Affiliate marketing is a great industry to work in; however, there are times when it can get lonely. For many, the idea of being able to work from home sounds like a dream; however, the reality is that you have to spend a lot of time by yourself. In this article, we’re going to be looking at some of the ways to combat loneliness and ensure that you don’t lose your mind!

Does your average day look a little something like this?

You crawl out of bed at 10 am, open your laptop and start checking the night’s statistics. Then you get caught up in a Skype conversation, and after one hour you realise that you are still in your pyjamas and you didn’t eat anything for breakfast. You finish the cold pizza you ordered in the night before and then go back to your laptop to repeat the cycle.

Working from home sounds like a dream to people with an ordinary office job. As a freelancer, you have the freedom to get up anytime you want and work from any place you choose. Sounds good right? Of course! But in reality, it can get pretty lonely, and a lot of affiliates end up turning into vague shadows of their former selves.

Once you start working from home, it’s tough to distinguish regular times to work and times to relax, and you end up mixing them all into one unproductive day.

One easy way to combat this is to create your own schedule and make sure that you don’t stay in the same place all day every day. By going to a cafe to work or creating an office space in your home will ensure that you can create a clear divide between work and play. You’ll notice the difference at the weekends the most when quite often affiliates get stressed when they should be relaxing with their friends and relatives because they feel like they’ve spent a whole week at home. Separate the two and voila, no more stress and home can begin to feel more like, well, home! Here are some options for alternative workspaces:

#1 Start Using Co-Working Spaces

Every city has at least one co-working space where startups can begin to establish their businesses, and they are open to everyone for a nominal fee. Simply rent a chair or desk and become part of the of young entrepreneurs’ community in your area.

Co-working spaces are great because, not only do they get you out of the house, but they also give you a chance to network and meet new people, both of which are hugely important in the affiliate world.

#2 Coffee Shops

Coffee shops are a great place to work, and they usually cater to freelance workers. Simply pick the small table in the corner, order your first extra-large caramel latte and sit there sipping it for the next 4 hours. Remember though, always sit next to the power socket so that you don’t have to leave the coffee shop just because you run out of the battery and all the other seats are taken.

Coffee shops are very similar to co-working spaces and, given the average price of coffee, work out to be a roughly similar price. However, there is a greater opportunity to meet different people. Plus, if you go there for long enough, you’ll finally be able to walk in and shout ‘the usual’ and get exactly what you want.

#3 Libraries

Nowadays not many people go to libraries so it’s pretty easy to find a good cosy spot where you can work all day. There is always somebody you can chat with if you want to and it’s less noisy than most coffee places.

#4 Local Meetups

Not many cities are big enough to have a large affiliate community which holds regular meetups, but there are usually industry related ones. Grabbing a beer with UX designers or attending a startup meetup can be equally as inspiring and beneficial as a regular affiliate meetup. Plus, you can always ask for feedback on your landing pages or find somebody who will help you out with that server problem you’ve been trying to solve for weeks.

#5 Travel to Nomadic Locations

As a full-time affiliate marketer, you have the advantage to work from anywhere in the world. Take advantage of low living costs and move to popular affiliate destinations like Thailand or Indonesia where you can meet a lot of other affiliates and have fun while travelling too.
