Ever feel like you’re trying to do too much at once? Then you need a team that can help. We’re here to show you how to build your own dream team and set your business soaring to new heights.

If you’re reading this, then you probably know how your business runs, but perhaps you’re doing all of the hard work yourself. You may have tried hiring freelancers for some tasks. Now, though, it’s time to move to the next level and start thinking about setting up a real, working team.

The first thing you need to do before trying to set up a team is to decide what tasks you need to delegate and many people you need to do them. This is really simple!

Which Jobs Should I Delegate?

To know which jobs to outsource, make a list of all of the tasks you do in a day. Decide if they fall into a single role or several. For example, if you have a lot of social media/writing tasks then the chances are you need a content creator. If you are having issues with your SEO or web-based mechanics, then you need a developer/programmer. If you want your pages to be stylish and professional, then you’ll be looking for a graphic designer. It may be that you specialise in one of these areas. If so, then you can fill one of these roles yourself.

Try not to go overboard to begin with. If you hire too many people at once you’ll be overstaffed, which will leave people wondering why you hired them in the first place, and worse, you’ll be spending far more money than you need to. Which brings us to the second question.

How many people should you hire?

The answer to this depends on the size of your operation, but the chances are that if you’ve been doing everything yourself until now, so you’ll probably only need one or two people maximum. Don’t forget, some of your tasks can still be done by freelancers at this stage.

When you get to a stage where you once again have more than you can handle then you can start thinking about hiring more people.

Whenever you hire people, you need to think about the value another person would add. What will they be able to do that you can’t and what is that task worth to your company?

Be the Boss

Once you have your team in place, you need to know how to make the most out of their attributes. One of the most important things when starting out is to learn to let go. You have to trust your initial decisions in hiring your team, and this means letting them get on with their jobs. One of the mistakes most first time employers make is micromanaging their employees.

Overbearing bosses are an employee’s worst nightmare, and if you don’t give them room to use their own skills and ideas to help your company to grow, they will be inefficient, and afraid to take risks. They will also lose morale and probably leave, which just creates more work for you.

When it comes to leadership you have to lead by example. In affiliate marketing, this means setting out with a clear agenda and showing your employees what you want and expect from them. To do this, you need to have a level of transparency and be willing to share your knowledge, while also inviting them to share theirs.

You shouldn’t let employees undermine or overrule you. If you see that something isn’t working, then show them that it isn’t working and try to find a solution. However, once you have delegated your task, leave your employee to get on with it and only check up on progress at designated intervals.

Showing yourself to be open and unafraid of being criticised means employees will be more open to discussions and both sides can better understand each other. This reduces the risk of mistakes due to misunderstandings.

Affiliate marketing is all about trial and error, so be prepared for challenges. Remember, you are trying to see what works and how you can approach customers effectively and professionally. Affiliate marketing is a constantly changing industry and you should never stop learning.

The Art of Delegation

Delegation means knowing how to get your employees on all working on the same page as you. exactly what is expected of them. In order to delegate effectively, you must be a concise and precise communicator. Here are examples of good and bad communications:

Good communication We are attempting to sell a new mobile phone game to the Eastern European market. An example of a clear explanation of a project should look something like this.

I would like you to write an advert that:

  • Highlights the key features of the game.
  • Explains how it is better than its rivals (name several rival examples)
  • Uses the keywords: List Keywords:
  • Our demographic are men aged 18-35, who like fantasy RPGs.
  • I would like the word count to be between 200-300 words.
  • This should be a general sales advert, not a blog.
  • Here are some examples of ad campaigns that have worked before. (Links to examples)

I would like this completed by January 12th with an evaluation of progress on January 8th.

Bad communication

Please can you write an article on this mobile game for next week.

You should give your employees as much information as possible as concisely as possible. If they are a content writer as above, then allow some room for creativity but point them in the right direction of marketing campaigns that you feel would be successful.

The specifics of the task will obviously differ based on which task is being delegated, but you ought to outline every aspect of the process which you want to see information about.

Remember: Your employees want your business to grow too and to be a great leader you have to also be a team player.
