Sourcing the right images for your ads can eat up both your time and budget. However, there are a lot of sites offering great stock content for free. Here are a few of our favourites.
Max Pixel
Max Pixel has a large database with a lot of great images, many of which don’t have the typical stock look about them. Searching for the right image can sometimes be a little tricky though as the keyword search can be both overly precise and a little vague. However, if you are looking for something more general, then Max Pixel is a great place to start.
Pexels
Pexels have a huge range of high-quality images and, unlike Max Pixel, you can search using the photographers’ names. This is a great feature if you are looking to create a campaign that maintains the same style over multiple pages. They also provide a far better range of pre-created adverts which you can use for inspiration or just place them straight into your campaigns.
Pixabay
Pixabay is very similar to Max Pixels. However, it has a couple of additional bonuses. The first is that they have far more images, although many of them feature on both sites. The other is that you can use additional search parameters such as illustration, vector, videos and more.
Canva
While Canva is primarily for producing your own images, it does have a pretty wide array of free photos which can be placed directly onto your boards. However, having tested the latest Canva 2.0, it looks like many of the original free images will likely have to be paid for in the future. Therefore, until the Beta test has finished and Canva 2.0 becomes fully adopted, it might be best to stick with the older version for now.
