Copywriting is the key to turning your visitors into buyers, so it’s important to get it right. In this article, we’ll show you how to put the right back into copy…write? 🤔

Thing first thing which people visiting your pages will see will be your design, but that isn’t what will make them stay, or what will give you that all-important sale.

Generating clicks and sales will all come down to how persuasively you can write. If you can’t generate interest through your writing then you’ve come to the right place. Here is a handy guide to ensure that you engage with your customers and convert their clicks into cash.

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

Here are three examples of advertising copy; one is good, one is bad and one is ugly. See if you can guess which is which!

Jumbex is a highly unique product designed to enhance your life in unimaginable ways. It has been intelligently created to ensure that, no matter what situation you might find yourself in, that you are always one step ahead of the game, and have the energy and stamina to see yourself through to the end of the day.

Jumbex bar is a nutritional bar which gives you energy. It contains natural ingredients and tastes great. It can be eaten at breakfast, lunch or dinner. Yum!

Here at Jumbex, we don’t give you more! If you’re looking for added sugars, E numbers, transfats or emulsifiers, then you’ve come to the wrong place. All we are offering is a simple protein bar which is 100% Natural, 100% Nutritional and 100% Delicious.

Easy right? If you said that the first was bad, the second, ugly and the third, good, then you already recognise good copy when you see it. Now all you have to do is recognise it in your own writing.

If your copy looks anything like the first two, then it’s time to start rethinking your sales pitch. Don’t worry, you don’t have to be Shakespeare to produce engaging copy. Here are two quick tips to boost your selling power and ensure that you don’t lose leads because of bad writing:

Tell people what you are selling

This seems like such an obvious thing to do, but it’s often so obvious that people forget to mention it. Also, it’s not always that easy.

When it comes to promoting products, you have to remember that you will be selling to lots of different people, and different people have different ideas about products.

Think back to when you were a kid, there’s a good chance that at some point you had a cardboard box. From that, you could have made anything. A castle, a spaceship, a fire engine, it didn’t matter, you could allow your imagination to run wild. That’s kind of what you have to do with your audience.

You need to take hold of people’s imaginations and then steer them in the right direction.

Sure, you could sell people a toothbrush, but wouldn’t it be better to sell them healthier gums, whiter teeth and a life free from the embarrassment breath?

When writing your copy, think of all of the things that your product can be used for and then sell those things too. The best copy always sells aspiration, products are just a quick means to achieving the things we want in life.

Keep it simple

If you aren’t telling people what you’re selling and why they should buy it then no amount of flashy images will convince your leads to convert. Make sure that you know everything there is to know about what you are selling. That way you will be able to market it far more easily. Remember, if you don’t understand your product then how will your visitors? Understanding your product will ensure that you know what you’re talking about and it will allow you to better appeal to your target audience.

Failure is only way to succeed

Finally, don’t be afraid to try out new styles and different angles. They won’t always work, but the more times you fail, the closer you will be to discovering what works.
