New Traffic Sources will Open Up

If you’ve spent any time on Twitter or Facebook in the past couple of years, you’ll know that they have become more and more restrictive places. This has led to new platforms being created and these new platforms could prove to be very good traffic sources. 

Gettr is growing fast, largely thanks to Twitter’s ban happy approach to users, and attracting a lot of big names. Gab, whose platform was booted off of Twitter, also has a growing base.  

Alongside these there are also YouTube alternatives such as Rumble and Locals which are also making waves

Increased Crypto Volatility

2021 was a fairly volatile year for crypto, and 2022 doesn’t look like it’s going to change the habit of a lifetime. Bitcoin has already taken a tumble in recent days due to the ongoing conflict in Kazakhstan which has seen the internet limited and Bitcoin mining operations shut down. 

Alongside this, the world is rapidly becoming more and more cashless, so there may be renewed interest in the coming months. Reduced supplies and increased interest could see crypto reach new heights. 

The Gaming Industry will Continue to Grow

Gaming did really well in 2021, and it looks like 2022 will be another great year. With many people still at home, wanting to try their luck and win big, there are plenty of opportunities to promote some awesome gaming offers. There may be a few ups and downs with certain GEOs, but we’ll keep you posted if and when any changes occur. 

Generate Seasonal Sales Early to Avoid Supply Issues

There have been global supply shortages for months now, and the problem doesn’t seem to be going anywhere fast. Fortunately, this could present marketers with the opportunity to make a run on seasonal sales early. 

People are already used to having to wait longer for items to be delivered and will therefore be planning things early. To make the most out of seasonal sales and holidays, start advertising well in advance. 

Valentine’s day is just over a month away, but now would be a good time to start generating some excitement.  

Conferences are back

While things still aren’t exactly back to normal, the world is slowly starting to open back up. 2022 should see a lot more in-person conferences and the chances to network face-to-face. Not only that, thanks to the success of online conferences over the past 2 years, there’ll likely be plenty of events to add to your calendar both physically and digitally.

Native ads are going from strength to strength, however, traffic sources need to find new and exciting ways to beat banner blindness. This will come in the shape of new ad formats that blend seamlessly into websites but also look amazing! Expect ads that look natural like Facebook and Instagram-style stories and feeds featuring on a wide range of major websites.  

The Metaverse Will Start to Take Shape

No one is exactly sure what Mark Zuckerberg has planned for the Metaverse, or what shape it will actually take. We have had teaser trailers for Mark’s vision, including impressive augmented reality, but whether this vision is achievable in the near future remains to be seen. What is likely is that we’ll start to see the first signs of the Metaverse coming in this year, and we’ll keep you posted when we do. 

One thing is for sure, if augmented reality takes off, then it’s going to be an amazing time to be an advertiser.

2022 will likely be a year of great change, whether for better or worse. The world is a rapidly changing place and with it the landscape of advertising. We are entering a very interesting future in terms of digital technology and information, and there will be plenty of opportunities to get ahead of the curve.
